Why the Chinese Act this Way?

Author
Abstract

After spending much of his time and energy quietly observing his fellow countrymen and his society, Wang Ding-ho has written these four essays as a general introduction to the Westerner of various conflicts found in contemporary Chinese society - conflicts which are in the main brought about by a confusion between traditional Chinese and new Western mores and standards. It is hoped that this brief analysis may serve to enlighten the reader, particularly the puzzled Westerner striving to penetrate the Chinese mentality, to gain some small understanding of the many confused and confusing aspects of Chinese society.
