The center walkway leading to many official buildings had this dragon design carved in marble. This was the Emperor's "carriage" or walkway over which the Emperor was carried to the building. No one else could enter on this center walkway. (China)
This picture is the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City in China. It is the largest of the halls that one passes through before entering the private living spaces of the Forbidden City.

Forbidden City in China
These mosaic inlays make up the walkway throughout the gardens of the Forbidden City in China. Made of a variety of small pebbles, they depict scenes important to the Emperor and his family.
