Effective Insight into a Closed Society

A State of Mind gives great insight into the family relationships as well as the relationship of the family to the government. Part of the effect for our students is that they hear the conflicted periods the girls go through as they prepare for the games. They can identify with so much of it but then can see the extreme differences. Some will react negatively to the culture; others will appreciate American culture ways they may not have considered before. Viewers also get some feeling of how others view the US and why; this can lead to excellent discussion as to how we perceive ourselves and how we may be perceived by others.
