Culture and Text in Teaching Chinese Literature

Abstract
The author discusses how teachers can teach Chinese literature within certain historical and cultural contexts, perspectives, and social practices. Using poetry by Qu Yuan, the author shows how Chinese literature is sophisticated, layered, and presents multiple different emotions and contexts through which to look at literature.
