Bringing Home the Sushi

This book is a collection of manga stories excerpted from some of the largest circulation magazines in Japan. Manga are sometimes called "Japanese comics," but there's much more to the story. As a cultural phenomenon, manga are without parallel in the West. About one quarter of everything published in Japan is published in manga format, and the medium attracts some of the most talented writers and graphic artists in the country. As a manifestation of the popular consciousness, manga provide an unobstructed view of contemporary Japan (and some entertaining reading, too).
