Transplanting the Haiku

Abstract
This article describes the nature and constraints of the haiku, as well as the elements and observations that contribute the creation of one. The author quickly glosses over the history and origin of haiku, the 5-7-5 syllable structure that goes into writing a haiku (and how you can subsequently break that structure), and the inspiration that haiku poets and amateurs alike find from nature.
