Teaching Indonesia: A World-Systems Perspective
Abstract |
The author is aware that Indonesia is rather poorly understood in western classrooms, and is not given much attention whatsoever. He seeks to rectify that by presenting a history of Indonesia in political and socioeconomic terms through its modern time. He talks about the strength of the Indonesia economy, how it has used agriculture as a means to sustain the country, and how the historical predicaments it has found itself in, such as the Cold War, has changed the country.
