Tracing the River to Its Source: Beauty Under Fire - The Xiuguluan River
Synopsis |
The Xiuguluan River runs through the homeland of two of Taiwan’s indigenous tribes - the Ami and Bunun. At the mid- and down-stream levels, the Ami’s fish-catching culture derives from the river. At the up-stream level around the Laku Laku River, the Bununs lived for centuries. It was also the site of a bloody battle between the Bunun and the Japanese. Through the eyes of history, the film presents the old and new faces of Xiuguluan River. If you want a copy of this film, contact Ashley Sun at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York.
