Abstract |
Gr. 6-12. These books in the Modern World Nations series present informative overviews of two of the three nations President Bush christened as the world’s "axis of evil." The authors offer considerably more objective looks, providing information on the cultural and historical heritages of these countries, their respective economies, ethnic groups, governments, languages, geography, politics, and religious beliefs. Concluding chapters examine contemporary issues and speculate on future developments. Color maps and photographs add visual interest, and general statistical facts appear on a quick-reference page in each volume. Clearly and concisely written, logically organized, and competently researched, these informational books are good choices for both public and school libraries. A chronology, suggestions for further reading, and a bibliography round out each book. Ed Sullivan Copyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved
