Abstract |
This pamphlet is an introductory explanation of what Chinese writing is like - of what Chinese "characters" are and of how they differ from our letters and words. The pamphlet suggests and illustrates the historical evolution of Chinese characters, the structural forms of Chinese sentences, the relation of Chinese writing to the ancient culture of the Chinese people. Overall, this pamphlet presents Chinese writing as a literary and artistic achievement of consequence to the world.
