Bringing Back the Scriptures

The Tang Priest and his disciples, after many hardships, finally bring the Scriptures from India to China. After fourteen years, crossing nine kingdoms and three prefectures and covering a distance of thirty-six thousand miles, they arrive at Thunder Monastery, where Shakyamuni Buddha gives them 5,048 volumes of the true scriptures. Upon their return to the Tang capital of Chang’an the Tang Emperor, Taizong, orders the teachings of the Buddhist scriptures to be spread throughout China.
